Severe Storms Possible Monday into Tuesday

A Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for severe storms is in effect Monday for southeast Ohio and western/central West Virginia (including Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg, and Athens), with a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) to the east. A Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall covers the entire region due to localized flash flooding potential Monday night into Tuesday. While isolated to scattered severe storms are possible Monday afternoon, the main severe threat arrives late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. A decaying thunderstorm complex (MCS) will track south across Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia overnight, bringing damaging winds and heavy downpours. Additional scattered strong-to-severe storms remain possible Tuesday afternoon and evening.
