Hot temperatures persist Tuesday across west Texas and southeast New Mexico (highs in the mid-to-upper 90s, with highs just above 100 degrees in the river valleys). Meanwhile, shower and storm chances increase across the western half of the area especially, where chances range from 30-60% in general (lower chances in the western Permian Basin). A few storms may produce strong winds and localized flash flooding.
