For the Extreme Heat Warning Sunday, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 114 expected. For the Heat Advisory Monday, heat index values up to 110 expected.
Where
In Arkansas, Southern Crawford, Central and Southern Franklin, and North and Central Sebastian Counties. In Oklahoma, Central and Southern Sequoyah, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Haskell, McIntosh, and Northern Le Flore Counties.

For the Extreme Heat Warning Sunday, until 8 PM CDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory Monday, from noon to 8 PM CDT.
Impacts
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Heat related illnesses are possible especially impacting those not acclimated to the conditions or those performing strenuous activities.
What to Do
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Tips to Stay Safe
An Extreme Heat Warning means that extremely dangerous heat conditions are happening now or soon. You must take precautions to protect yourself and others from extreme heat.
- Stay inside in air conditioning if possible. If you don’t have air conditioning, go to a library, mall, or local cooling center.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and wear loose, light-colored clothing.
- Check on friends, family, and neighbors, especially those who do not have air conditioning or spend much of their time alone.
- Reschedule outdoor activities for a cooler day.
- If you must be outdoors, take longer and more frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoid the hottest parts of the day.
- Bring pets indoors if possible. If pets are left outside, make sure they have shade and plenty of cool water.
- Make sure you know the signs of heat-related illness and how to respond.

Dangerous Heat Sunday

The heat and humidity continue Sunday across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. An Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory have been issued for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Heat index values as high as 115 are expected in the warning area and 110 in the advisory area. Practice good heat safety to avoid heat illness.
