Strong Winds This Afternoon Into Tonight

Strong westerly winds develop this afternoon into tonight. The strongest winds with gusts to 60 mph will be over western and parts of north central North Dakota, with gusts to 55 possible over much of central and eastern North Dakota. In addition, near critical fire weather conditions expected across the southwest.

A high wind warning is in effect generally along and west of a line from Minot to Dickinson to Hettinger, with a wind advisory in effect over most remaining locations in North Dakota except the Red River Valley. Objects left unsecured will be blown around. Near critical fire weather conditions southwest. Use extra caution. Winds this strong will make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
