Impacts
Travel could be very difficult, especially Sunday night and Monday morning. Strong winds could produce areas of blowing and drifting snow.
What to Do
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Tips to Stay Safe
A Winter Storm Warning means that a dangerous winter storm is expected, making travel difficult or impossible. Take immediate action to prepare your home, vehicle and family.
- Avoid travel if possible. If you must travel, check road conditions and closures before you leave, and make sure you have an emergency kit in your car. Make sure you have a full tank of gas and/or a fully charged battery.
- Stock emergency supplies in your home before the storm hits. Include food, water, essential medications, flashlights and batteries.
- Make sure that pets and other animals have plenty of food and water, and access to a warm shelter.
- If using heat from a fireplace or wood stove, make sure it is properly ventilated. Never use a gas range or oven to heat your home. If using a generator, it should be placed outdoors, at a distance from the home.
- If stuck in your vehicle, stay there and contact the authorities for help. Run the motor about 10 minutes per hour for heat, but open the windows just a little for fresh air.

Where
A portion of south central Colorado, including the following areas, the Eastern San Juan Mountains, and the Upper Rio Grande Valley.
When
From late tonight through Monday morning.
Impacts
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone location. Rockslides will be possible in the mountainous areas. Highway 160 and Highway 17 will likely be significantly impacted by this storm.
Additional Details
- Heavy rainfall is expected to fall Sunday and Monday across the area, leading to elevated concerns for flooding in areas that have recently received excessive moisture, or have recently experienced flooding. - The greatest risk of flooding will be along the Conejos River and the South Fork of the Rio Grande, including South Fork and Mogote. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

- Runoff from heavy rain and melting snow over the San Juan Mountains may cause flooding in the San Luis Valley, especially Monday and Tuesday as high flows move out of the mountains and through the Rio Grande and Conejos River. - The greatest risk of flooding will be along the Conejos River and the Rio Grande, including Del Norte, Monte Vista and Alamosa. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A potent upper storm system will bring heavy rainfall and high elevation snow to the San Juan Mts and western portions of the San Luis Valley. 3-4 inches of rain possible with runoff from rain and melting snow causing flooding.
