The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MDT Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

Affected Area

Fire Weather Zones 223 and 224.

Winds

West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Relative Humidity

As low as 8 percent.

Impacts

Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning.

What to Do

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Another day of very dry air and strong winds of 30-40mph are expected today. Areas in the boxes are at the most risk for fire starts. Red Flag Warnings are issued for these areas through the evening. Hot, dry, and windy conditions are likely outside of the red boxes as well. Do what you can to minimize the threat of wildfire starts for the area today!
