FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR MOST OF WESTERN AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NORTH DAKOTA ON WEDNESDAY

.Critical fire weather conditions are possible on Wednesday across most of western and portions of southern North Dakota. Minimum relative humidity will drop into the lower teens across southwest North Dakota, and the upper teens to lower 20s across the northwest and far south central. South to southeast winds will be strongest in the southern James River Valley, sustained around 25 mph, and 20 to 25 mph elsewhere. Gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Any fires that ignite could spread rapidly and become difficult to control.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.

Southeast 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Relative Humidity

As low as 10 percent.

Affected Area

Most of western and parts of southern North Dakota.

Impacts

Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress.

Chances for precipitation increase Wednesday night through Friday, however forecast precipitation amounts have diminished. The northwest is the only area showing even low probabilities for a half inch of liquid precipitation.
