In effect from Tuesday 04/21 2:28 PM EDT – Wednesday 04/22 5:00 AM EDT

Issued by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC

The combination of dry fuels, gusty southwest to west winds, and low relative humidity of about 20-30% late Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires on Wednesday.

Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly.

A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. Open burning of any kind is illegal.
