FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 9 PM MDT FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY

.Dry and windy conditions will occur across much of central and northern New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. The lowest humidities will focus over central and northeastern New Mexico while the strongest winds are expected in northern New Mexico. While ERCs remain near normal in portions of western and central New Mexico, the drying of fine fuels may support rapid fire spread.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.

Area And Timing

Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), Northeast Plains (Zone 104), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), North Central Mountains (Zone 120), Upper Rio Grande Valley and Lower Chama River Valley (Zone 121), Sangre de Cristo Mountains (Zone 122), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), Central Highlands (Zone 125), East Central Plains (Zone 126) for Wednesday from 11 AM until 9 PM MDT.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest to west winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph in northern New Mexico.

Relative Humidity

Minimum values of 6 to 13 percent.

Impacts

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
