Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

As low as 8 percent.

Impacts

Extreme fire danger is expected. Fires will uncontrollably spread and be very destructive.

This is a Particularly Dangerous Situation that poses a significant threat to life and property for both rural and urban environments in the event of a wildfire start or existing fire. In some cases, safe and timely evacuation may not be possible should a fire approach.

A Particular Dangerous Situation Red Flag Warning is in effect today across portions of south central and southeast Colorado. Winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph, combined with very low humidity levels, will produce extreme fire danger with uncontrollable fire spread. The greatest area of concern is the Central Mountain Region, all of the Southern Mountains and Valleys and the San Luis Valley. Please be mindful to avoid all activities which could spark a fire. #cowx
