This Day in Arkansas Weather History

Created by the NWS Little Rock WFO

The Great Flood of April 1927 was at the time, the most destructive and costly flood in Arkansas history. Early snow melt in the plains caused the Mississippi River to rise in early 1927. By the time the waters made it down into AR, the state was experiencing record rainfall. The high water, along with already saturated ground, created a dire situation.
