SYNOPSIS

Gradual cooling will continue through Wednesday following by slow warming for Thursday through Saturday, then slow cooling for Sunday and Monday. Night and morning coastal low clouds will extend will inland overnight across much of the valleys into Wednesday morning, then decrease in coverage and inland extent into the weekend.

SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...

SHORT TERM (Today through Thursday)

A low pressure system moving southward along the West Coast into California will continue the cooling trend through Wednesday with Wednesday high temperatures a few degrees below average near the coast and in the lower deserts to 5 to 10 degrees below average for the Inland Empire. High temperatures on Wednesday will range from the lower to mid 70s near the coast to the lower to mid 80s for the Inland Empire with the lower deserts in the upper 90s to around 100. Low pressure will begin to weaken over California on Thursday with warming of high temperatures of a few degrees per day for Thursday through Friday.

A coastal eddy with slow deepening of the marine layer will continue into early Wednesday. The marine layer will deepen to 2500 to 3000 feet with night and morning coastal low clouds extending well inland overnight and across much of the valleys.

LONG TERM (Friday through Monday)

The warming trend will continue through Saturday with Saturday high temperatures ranging from a few degrees below average for the valleys to a few degrees above average for the deserts. High temperatures on Saturday will range from the mid to upper 70s near the coast to the mid 80s to lower 90s for the Inland Empire with 100 to 104 for the lower deserts.

During the weekend, a weak upper level low pressure system may develop off the California coast and move into California on Monday. This will bring a few degrees of cooling for Sunday and Monday with Monday high temperatures ranging from the lower to mid 70s near the coast to the 80s for the Inland Empire with the lower deserts around 100. Moisture is limited with the chance of measurable rainfall in the mountains on Monday less than 5 percent.

AVIATION

150600Z...Coast/Valleys...Low clouds based 1700-2000 feet MSL will gradually fill most of the coastal basin overnight. Vis reduced inland 2-5SM. Scatter out 16-18Z. Low clouds to push ashore after 03Z Tuesday eve and spread inland overnight again with bases around 1800-2200 feet MSL.

Mountains/Deserts...Mostly clear and VFR conditions through Tuesday.

MARINE

No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Saturday.
