KEY MESSAGES

- Hot and dry conditions continue tomorrow through Tuesday, with high temperatures in the 90s to near 103 degrees.

- Forecast afternoon highs and heat indices could potentially reach heat advisory criteria across portions of the area for later this week.

SHORT TERM

(This evening through Monday) Issued at 230 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

High pressure will continue to be centered across northwestern Texas and New Mexico. This will prolong the hot and dry conditions across the region. Slightly drier air will continue to settle across the area again for tomorrow. Therefore, heat indices will not be as high as previous days. As a result, there is no need for another Heat Advisory for this evening or tomorrow afternoon. Expect highs to settle into the upper 90s to 103 degrees.

LONG TERM

(Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 230 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

High pressure will continue to remain in place through much of the long term forecast. Expect highs to gradually rise a few degrees each day through the middle of next week. This may prompt a higher likelihood of seeing another Heat Advisory across the region during this timeframe. Highs are forecast to be near 107 degrees across the Big Country on Thursday. We will have to keep an eye on these temperature trends as we move into next week. Otherwise, the high pressure appears to start shifting to the west by Friday, which may knock temperatures down a degree or two by next weekend.

AVIATION

(00Z TAFS) Issued at 602 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

VFR conditions expected with light southerly winds overnight of 5-10 KT. Winds will increase with gusts up to near 20KT tomorrow afternoon.
