KEY MESSAGES

Updated at 130 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

- A warming trend will result in widespread triple-digit temperatures and heat index values through the end of July and into early August. - The combination of above normal temperatures and high humidity will result in a moderate to major heat risk this week.

- A moderate risk of rip currents along the lower Texas beaches through Monday evening.

DISCUSSION

Issued at 130 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

Oppressive summertime heat will be the main weather concern across Deep South Texas through at least the start of August as the region remains under the influence of ridging aloft. Widespread triple-digit high temperatures are expected for most of Deep South Texas beginning tomorrow afternoon, with the exception being along the immediate coast and lower Texas beaches where highs should only warm into the 90s. Temperatures should be closer to 3-6 degrees above normal for late July, and a few areas may tie or break daily record high temperatures and/or highest low temperatures as well. There wont be much relief from the heat during the overnight hours as low temperatures remain mild in the upper 70s and low 80s. Additionally, well established low level southerly to southeasterly flow will maintain elevated humidity across the region, which will result in triple-digit heat index values region wide. Expect afternoon heat index values to range from 105-115 degrees each day. Heat Advisories are likely for most of the week, with a few areas potentially reaching Extreme Heat Warning criteria by mid to late week.

The combination of near-record temperatures and high humidity will result in a moderate (level 2 of 4) to major (level 3 of 4) heat risk for most of the week, with a few areas potentially reaching extreme (level 4 of 4) heat risk by the end of the week and into the weekend. In addition to the oppressive daytime heat, very warm overnight low temperatures will not allow for much recovery from the daytime heat and can result in an increased risk of heat- related illnesses. Continue to practice heat safety wear sunscreen, light-colored loose-fitting clothing, take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors, and stay hydrated!

AVIATION

(18Z TAFS) Issued at 130 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

VFR will prevail through the forecast period at all TAF sites. Expect persistent southerly to southeasterly winds around 10-15 knots with occasional gusts up to 20 knots through the late evening hours. Winds should fall below 10 knots tonight, and increase once again by mid to late Monday morning.

MARINE

Issued at 130 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2026

Generally favorable marine conditions will continue through tonight with light to moderate southeast winds and slight to moderate seas. An enhanced pressure gradient along the immediate coast will result in Small Craft Exercise Caution conditions along the Laguna Madre and nearshore Gulf waters daily during the late morning and early evening hours each day next week. Otherwise, expect rain-free conditions.
