What to Do

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Tips to Stay Safe

A Heat Advisory means dangerous heat conditions are happening now or soon. Take action before, during and after the heat to stay safe. 

  • Stay in air-conditioned spaces if possible. Find cooling centers or places with AC in your community that you can go to, like libraries or shopping malls. 
  • Stay hydrated and stock up on clean drinking water to get you through multiple days of heat.
  • Reschedule outdoor activities for cooler times of the day, and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
  • Cover windows with curtains or shades, or use window reflectors designed to reflect heat back outside. 
  • Check on friends, family, and neighbors, especially those who do not have air conditioning or spend much of their time alone. 

Make sure you know the signs of heat-related illness and how to respond.

[JUL 27, 2026] ⛈️ Showers and thunderstorms will increase today as a tropical wave moves across the region. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially across the U.S. Virgin Islands this morning and western Puerto Rico this afternoon. Some storms may produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and localized flooding. 🌡️ Dangerous heat will continue where rainfall is limited. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Stay weather aware and monitor for possible Flood Advisories or Warnings. ********* Español ********* ⛈️ Los aguaceros y las tormentas eléctricas aumentarán hoy con el paso de una onda tropical. Se esperan aguaceros y tormentas dispersas a numerosas, especialmente durante la mañana sobre las Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses y en la tarde sobre el oeste de Puerto Rico. Algunas tormentas podrían producir lluvias intensas, ráfagas de viento, frecuentes descargas eléctricas e inundaciones localizadas. 🌡️ El calor peligroso continuará donde las lluvias sean limitadas.
