The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Washington

Stehekin River at Stehekin affecting Chelan County.

For the Stehekin River...including Stehekin...Minor flooding is forecast.

Impacts

At 20.5 feet, water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge. Company Creek Road inundated at northern end. Battalion Creek culverts are beginning to be overtopped. Water begins damaging Wood Road.

- At 11:30 AM PDT Wednesday the stage was 20.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 19.5 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise back above flood stage Wednesday evening. It will then fall below flood stage for a brief time Thursday into Friday. It will then see an additional rise above flood stage Friday night continue rising to near 21.3 feet early next week. - Flood stage is 20.5 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What to Do

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
This warning will be in effect until further notice.

  • If your home is likely to flood, or if authorities tell you to evacuate, do so immediately and move to higher ground. 
  • Never walk, swim, or drive through flood waters or flooded roads. 
  • Stay away from areas where water levels can rise rapidly, like storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. 
  • If you are trapped in a building, move to the highest floor and call 911. Go to the roof only if necessary. 
  • Do not go into any room where electrical cords or outlets are under water. Stay out of water that may have electricity in it!
  • If your vehicle is trapped in rapidly moving water, stay inside. If water is rising inside the vehicle, move to the roof and signal for help.

Breezy Winds Down Okanogan Valley Friday

On Friday, winds will increase down the Okanogan Valley and gust to 40 mph through the afternoon hours. The combination of low relative humidity will result in increased fire concerns, particularly in fine fuels where fires can spread rapidly.
