Severe weather possible Monday night - Tuesday

Created by the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg WFO

We will be in a weather pattern conducive to organized, strong to severe storms developing to our north and west Monday night into Tuesday, which could bring widespread strong winds to the area. A more localized threat of damaging wind or even large hail also may develop Tuesday afternoon and evening. Stay weather aware early this week.

Maps depict the NWS Storm Prediction Center Convective Outlooks for Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28, 2026, in NC/SC/GA. The risk is "level 1 of 5" in the NC mountains/foothills on Monday, and "level 2 of 5" over most of western NC on Tuesday. Caption: Organized areas of thunderstorms may develop in the Ohio Valley and move toward NC/SC and NE GA Monday night, Tuesday, or Tuesday night. Our area could see strong to severe winds occur over broad areas, somewhat unusual for July. Currently the severe weather threat appears greatest Tuesday afternoon through late evening, when a localized threat of large hail also may develop.
