In effect from Saturday 10/31 12:00 AM PDT – Saturday 10/31 9:00 AM PDT
Issued by NWS Portland OR
What
Temperatures of 36 degrees or lower will result in frost formation.
Where
Portions of northwest and west central Oregon and southwest Washington.
When
From midnight tonight to 9 AM PDT Saturday.
Impacts
Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Additional Details
Frost and freeze headlines are only issued through the growing season of April 1 through October 31. Therefore, frost or freeze headlines will not be issued beginning November 1, even though similar low temperatures are possible. Additionally, frost and freeze headlines will no longer be issued this growing season for the Upper Hood River Valley, southern Willamette Valley, south Washington Cascade Foothills, and north Oregon Coast Range as these locations have already experienced a hard freeze earlier in October.
What to Do
Take steps now to protect tender outdoor plants from the cold. Consider temporarily moving outdoor potted plants indoors if they are sensitive to cold temperatures.
Consider temporarily covering sensitive plants with a lightweight cotton fabric (i.e., bedsheets, thin blankets), as this will help retain heat and provide frost protection for your plants.
