Extreme Heat Warning Continues Today

Created by the NWS St Louis WFO

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect today. Expect the heat index to rise above 100 degrees between 10-11 AM. Highest heat index readings will be between 105 and 115 degrees this afternoon. The heat index is not expected to fall below 100 degrees until 8-9 PM this evening. People are urged to take all precautions to avoid heat stress today. Drink plenty of water or sports drinks to stay hydrated. Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as these tend to promote dehydration. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing if venturing outside. Avoid strenuous activities if possible, and take plenty of breaks in the shade, or ideally in an air conditioned environment.
