Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 100 degrees expected.
Where
In Minnesota, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Pine, Cass, Itasca, and Carlton and South St. Louis Counties. In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the Bois Forte Band, Deer Creek area, the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the Fond du Lac Band, the St. Croix Band in Burnett County, the Bad River Reservation and the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake, Hinckley, Lena Lake and, East Lake areas. Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Madeline Island.

- Stay inside in air conditioning if possible. If you don’t have air conditioning, go to a library, mall, or local cooling center.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and wear loose, light-colored clothing.
- Check on friends, family, and neighbors, especially those who do not have air conditioning or spend much of their time alone.
- Reschedule outdoor activities for a cooler day.
- If you must be outdoors, take longer and more frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoid the hottest parts of the day.
- Bring pets indoors if possible. If pets are left outside, make sure they have shade and plenty of cool water.
- Make sure you know the signs of heat-related illness and how to respond.

Severe Storms Possible This Afternoon and Tonight

Please remain weather-aware today! There is a Level 2 and Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms across the region this afternoon and tonight. We are tracking the potential for two rounds of storms. The first will move into north-central Minnesota this afternoon, becoming more numerous over time and move into northwest Wisconsin late this afternoon and this evening. A second round may develop this evening over central Minnesota and move into northwest Wisconsin overnight. Primary hazards include hail up to tennis ball size (2.25" in diameter), wind gusts between 40 to 80 mph, a small risk of tornadoes, and heavy rain that could lead to minor flash flooding. Please plan NOW for where you will seek shelter if storms approach, and ensure you have multiple methods for receiving watches and warnings!
