Multiple Days of Heavy Rain Continue

Created by the NWS Des Moines WFO

Moderate to heavy rainfall this morning will slowly progress southward today into tonight, before lifting back northward by Wednesday. This active pattern generally continues through the remainder of the week. Locally heavy rainfall may lead to ponding water or flash flooding and successive rounds of rainfall may eventually lead to river flooding.

Weather outlook detailing a multi-day heavy rain threat persisting over Iowa this week. A slight risk (level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall is in place over southern Iowa tonight, where 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible. The slight risk then expands slightly farther northward on Wednesday. Finally, Thursday's slight risk will be over northern Iowa, with a marginal risk (level 1 of 4) over the rest of the state. River flooding and flash flooding are possible.
