The Flood Watch will expire for portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Bureau, Carroll, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, Jo Daviess, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, Stephenson, Warren and Whiteside, Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington, and northeast Missouri, including the following areas, Clark and Scotland.

The heavy rain and additional flooding threat has ended. Therefore, the Flood Watch will be allowed to expire at 7 PM CDT this evening.

  • Be aware of low-lying areas along your travel routes that are most likely to flood. 
  • Check your home’s emergency supplies, and make sure all members of the household know your emergency plan

If a Flood Warning is issued, it means that dangerous flooding is expected or already happening. 

  • Never walk, swim, or drive through flood waters or flooded roads. 
  • Stay away from areas where water levels can rise rapidly, like storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. 

If your home is likely to flood, or if authorities tell you to evacuate, do so immediately and move to higher ground.

Heavy T-Storms Continue East of the Mississippi

Continued rounds of thunderstorms pose a flash flooding threat in far eastern Iowa, northwestern Illinois, and the tri-state point of Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. While the severe threat is decreasing this evening, a few brief tornadoes, gusty winds, and small hail cannot be ruled out. Do not drive on flooded roadways!
