Sneaker Waves through Wednesday Afternoon

A Beach Hazards Statement for the Lost Coast and Mendocino Coast has been extened through Wednesday. A long period southerly swell has arrived bringing a moderate sneaker wave risk to south and southwest facing beaches. Sneaker waves are relatively large, unexpected waves that can pull you into the frigid ocean. Don't be fooled by an ocean that looks calm. A sneaker wave can strike after 30 minutes of smaller waves. Be cautious on the beach today and never turn your back on the ocean!
