In effect from Wednesday 06/10 7:04 PM AKDT – Thursday 06/11 7:15 AM AKDT
Issued by NWS Juneau AK
A low pressure system will bring increased moisture toward Yakutat and the northern gulf coast this weekend. This event will not be long in duration, lasting around 24 to 48 hours. It will bring heavy rain during most of the event, with the most likely scenario being 2 to 3 inches of rain over 24 hours. There is a 60% chance of greater than 2 inches in 24 hours and similarly a 60% chance of greater than 3 inches of rain in 48 hours. That being said, no flooding is expected at this time. There is likely to be rises in river levels, but soil moisture is still low (around 50% to 60%). This means that most of the rain will be absorbed into the ground. We will continue to monitor the development of this system and any possible impacts.
