Issued by NWS Fairbanks AK

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

Affected Area

Delta Junction.

Timing

From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

Winds

Southeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Humidity

As low as 15 to 20 percent.

Temperatures

Highs in the upper 70s. Lows in the lower 50s.

Impacts

Critical fire weather conditions are possible due to a combination of low relative humidity, gusty winds from the south, and dry fuels.

Additional Details

Relative humidity values are expected to be lower on Saturday, but the winds will be stronger on Sunday. The one limitation to critical fire weather conditions will be the influx of moisture coming in from the south on Sunday.

What to Do

A Fire Weather Watch means that weather conditions could lead to the potential for a Red Flag event in the near future. This watch will remain in effect until it is upgraded to a Red Flag Warning or that it is determined that the Red Flag event will not develop.
Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Fire Weather Watch.
