Impacts

At 6.0 feet, Some roads are flooded about 6 miles downstream in Avon Township of Rock County, including Beloit Newark Rd. In the Avon Bottoms area of Rock County, flooding is occurring in Sugar River Park. In Illinois, Winslow Rd is threatened near the river between Durand and Shirland. Low lying areas of Sugar Shores Camping Resort may be inundated.

What to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

A Flood Warning means that dangerous flooding is expected or already happening. Take immediate action to protect yourself and your home. 

  • If your home is likely to flood, or if authorities tell you to evacuate, do so immediately and move to higher ground. 
  • Never walk, swim, or drive through flood waters or flooded roads. 
  • Stay away from areas where water levels can rise rapidly, like storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. 
  • If you are trapped in a building, move to the highest floor and call 911. Go to the roof only if necessary. 
  • Do not go into any room where electrical cords or outlets are under water. Stay out of water that may have electricity in it!
  • If your vehicle is trapped in rapidly moving water, stay inside. If water is rising inside the vehicle, move to the roof and signal for help.

At 13.5 feet, Floodwaters affect Martintown Road and West River Road in the Martintown area. Upstream in Browntown, floodwaters affect highway MM and West Indies Road.

- At 4:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 13.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this morning to a crest of 13.6 feet this evening. Some Much-Needed Quiet Weather

Predominantly dry and quiet weather is expected through the first half of this week. Most areas in southern WI will be waking up to some frost early this morning, with temperatures rising quickly under sunny skies. Warmer air arrives region-wide into Tuesday. Inland temperatures remain warm Wednesday, with a lake breeze keeping east-central Wisconsin and the shoreline of Lake Michigan cooler.
