Zone changes were implemented today across the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Chain; while many zones were renamed to more intuitive naming conventions at community request, NWS also created a new marine zone for Unimak Pass. To the east, the community of Petersville is now located in a single zone, rather than straddling three. Our hope is that these changes help with clarity in future warnings.
