KEY MESSAGES

Updated at 1219 AM CDT Mon Apr 20 2026

- Temperatures will remain cooler-than-normal through Monday night with a warming trend throughout the week.

- There is very little chance of rain through Thursday. Middle Tennessee will enjoy plenty of sunshine the next several days.

- A more unsettled weather pattern will emerge by Friday, with rain chances lasting through next weekend and into the following week.

SHORT TERM

(Tonight through Tuesday Night) Issued at 1118 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

Clear skies across Middle Tennessee will allow for temperatures to dip into the upper 30s on some portions of the Cumberland Plateau, and into the low to mid 40s across the rest of the area. Monday is going to be a beautiful sunny day, with a weak secondary cold front passing through the mid-state. All this cold front looks to do is switch our winds back to the north for a brief period. Highs on Monday will reach the mid 60s to mid 70s, with the lower end of that range being on the Cumberland Plateau. Definitely a good day to get outside and experience some spring if you haven't done so yet!

LONG TERM

(Wednesday through next Monday) Issued at 1118 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

Surface high pressure will slide into the area beginning late Monday. Warmer air will begin to filter in starting on Tuesday, with the passage of a warm front that will also bring a brief period of clouds. As the new air mass makes itself at home, highs will rise by mid-week into the low 80s under clear skies. As for rain chances, the end of the week looks active, but not too many details on that right now in the guidance. QPF amounts currently look promising, but being that rain is 6 days out temporally, we will have to wait and see before we start advertising amounts. Stay tuned!

AVIATION

(06Z TAFS) Issued at 1219 AM CDT Mon Apr 20 2026

Winds will increase to be out of the north around 5-10kts by mid- morning this morning. They will return to VRB and less than 5kts around sunset. VFR ceilings will prevail through the TAF period.
